Raheny Veterinary Hospital

I would strongly urge people to think twice before using Raheny Vets. We brought our senior cat in for a dental extraction, paid over €460, and brought him home. While he was recovering alright overall, the extraction site developed an infection and wasn't healing the way it should. I personally brought him in for his first routine post-op check right before my wife and I left for our anniversary in Italy. I explained to the vet that he seemed absolutely grand at home, but as soon as she looked in his mouth, she said there was an infection. The surgeon who actually performed the procedure didn't even come in to examine him; the examining vet just went into another room to speak with her. Because they hadn't prescribed him any antibiotics after the original surgery—only painkillers—we were suddenly handed a bill for over €70 for medications during what was supposed to be a free routine checkup. When our minder brought him back for a second follow-up a few days later, the vet physically felt a hard fragment and noted it was likely a piece of tooth left behind in his gum. This was a straightforward issue that could have been addressed then and there. Instead, they refused to extend the antibiotics he needed to control the active infection and heavily pushed to book him in for another day-stay under general anaesthesia and more X-rays. On top of that, they charged a €50 consultation fee for what was again supposed to be a routine post-op check on their own work. We weren't comfortable with that, so our minder took him to another independent clinic for an emergency second opinion. The new vet took one look at his mouth, and right there on the table, gently removed the leftover tooth material and an infected stitch while our cat was completely conscious. It took a few moments, required zero anaesthesia, and they immediately prescribed the antibiotics he actually needed. To make matters worse, their administrative follow-through has been completely unacceptable. We had to call them three or four times over the course of a week just to get his medical files, and they still failed to send over the full detailed history we originally asked for. Nobody seemed willing to take accountability. We were even promised a callback to address these issues, and they failed to follow through on that as well, forcing us to constantly chase them down. Whether they are simply overbooked and need to slow down, or there is a reluctance to provide complete records, the lack of transparency is obvious. One way or another, we are entirely dissatisfied. Raheny Vets left material and a stitch behind, failed to resolve a simple issue across multiple visits, tried to push a senior cat into an unnecessary, high-risk anaesthetic procedure, and fell short on basic communication. It felt completely revenue-driven rather than focused on what was best for the animal. We will not be returning.

We had an emergency with our cat, Tubby, on Saturday 5th September 2026 in the afternoon and, although we are signed up with a scheme in a Portmarnock practice, Raheny Vet Hospital were happy to see us and incredibly welcoming. The vet who attended to Tubby was so friendly and efficient. She is from Poland but I can’t remember her name. We went back on the Sunday morning and the same vet attended to Tubby. She was extremely gentle and efficient with our lovely little cat. I would thoroughly recommend Raheny Veterinary Hospital. The only North Dublin practice to which we had signed up that would deal with an emergency is situated in Ashbourne - too far from where we live to travel with such an ill cat.

Lovely staff and so accommodating when I needed an urgent appointment for my lizard, thank you to the team!🦎

Very caring and considerate team look after our pooch

This vets is the best the best in Dublin. I have two rescue cats,Jack and Winnie and have had numerous medical and emergencies with them. All their needs have been met with great efficiency and compassion. Pat the owner and his fellow vets and Nurses are outstanding in their fields. Reception staff are friendly , communication and feedback excellent.

I rang today 15 March 2926 to request an emergency consultation for my dog Teddy who has been vomiting & diarrhoea since 7 this morning. I was informed that no vet was available to see him as they were booked up. I find this level of service completely unsatisfactory and surely there are slots kept for emergencies. I have a been a client of this practice for many years having had a total of 5 dogs being patients here and also subscribe to their Pet Plan. I also said I was going away in the morning and I was most anxious for him to be seen. The only option I was given.was to bring him to UCD. I think it’s time I started to look for a new veterinary practice that demonstrates empathy and understanding to their customers who find themselves in such a stressful situation.

Raheny Vet experience we have is always positive and professional so only good things we can say about them. Definitely would recommend to everyone

My partner and I wore looking for a good vet and heard of raheny vets from word of mouth. We needed a pet plan for our frenchie as she is quite poorly bred. Shauna took care of Kali with such care. She done everything she could to get her into tip top shape. We have her in the vet for next week & although it’s only been a day we can see a big improvement in her. This is all thanks to Shauna. What a lovely woman and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Big big thank you to Shauna and all at the raheny vets team.
