Shenick Veterinary Centre offers day-to-day veterinary care plus hydrotherapy and in-house grooming, and says it treats a range of pets including exotics. The practice states that out-of-hours emergency care for its patients is provided at UCD Belfield. Recent reviews frequently mention clear communication about treatment plans and charges and praise specific staff for handling stressful or urgent situations (including taking in an injured cat at short notice near closing time). One recent review, however, describes a serious breakdown around an emergency visit and record-keeping, and the owner reports they felt the issue was handled poorly.

Outstanding service from start to finish. The team at Shenick were warm and efficient, the premises are well planned and welcoming, and communication about treatment and charges was clear and timely.

Special thanks to Genevieve, who is always wonderful with our cat (he can be very stressed), and also to the lovely Italian lady who kindly took in Croissant yesterday when he was injured — right at closing time and on such short notice. We are so grateful for the care and kindness shown to him.

Will never attend shenicks vets again! Our cat Nala took a turn for the worse and started taking seizures we rang shenicks as an emergency they told us we could come in before they closed and as it was nearly closing time we panicked and left the house without realising we had left our money at home. When we got to shenicks they told us they were too busy and to come back on Monday with Nala when leaving and going to pay my partner realised he hadn’t got his money on him in that time to which he was told that it was okay to ring the next day and just pay over the phone and gave us a copy of her history report. We had to get her age changed on it as it was incorrect so a new copy was sent out to us and we were absolutely appalled to read when we had left they updated her history and wrote that my partner said he’d no money, will not attend Monday or pay the consultation when the agreement was made to be paid the following Morning. To which I rang up the next day to pay and in concern of what had being said as our Nala had to be taking to an emergency vets over the weekend has her seizures got worse and this could have effected our Nala getting the care she needed. When I rang I felt it was dealt with very poorly to just being told she probably didn’t mean it like that and she was Italian. Our Nala sadly passed on Saturday night in great care of another vets. Would not recommend bringing your pets to Shenicks. Disgraceful.

My Alaskan Malamute (Storm) needed hydrotherapy for her arthritis. Catherine has been amazing working with Storm over the past weeks. Storm is a bit dramatic but with Catherine’s patience, she has embraced the water and is no longer limping and is as she’s turned back the clock years. I couldn’t be more impressed with Catherine and Shenicks
